This is Part 3 of the Summer Skill Set Series: The Skill of Hearing
Romans 12:2 tells us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Many Christians would have expected this to say, “be transformed by the renewing of your soul or spirit,” but it says, “mind.” Here, Paul is telling us that transformation comes from thinking differently. If we don't think right, then we don't do right, and we won't be right.
How can we think differently? The answer is to fill our minds with
the voice of God rather than the other voices around us. When we hear
God’s Word, it changes us. When you have His word and you rehearse
(confess) it, then it becomes belief. Belief makes faith, and faith is
what you do. When you do what you know, then you are transformed.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
We must hear the voice of God. This is a skill discussed in 1
Corinthians 12-14, which talks about tongues and prophecy and how they
work. When you prophesy, you edify or build up the church. Of course, we are the Church. Prophecy builds up the body, because we hear His will from heaven and then we can do His will on earth as it
is in heaven. In that way, His Kingdom comes. If you want His Kingdom to come, then build His Church. Build His Church by declaring His will from heaven. We can do it on earth and see His Kingdom come!
Hear Him, serve others and love as He loved us,
